How to Create a Mini-Book Project For Students

In my Friday reflection, I shared a sneak peak of one of my favorite (and simplest) student projects – Mini Books!

In my earth science classes, students created their mini-books about astronomy.

Since there already tons of tutorials for creating mini-books, like this video or this simple step by step drawing , I decided to not recreate the wheel.  My favorite tutorial for creating a book using one page of paper is from Laurent Stringer.  I linked to her tutorial with the QR code in my freebie download.

Word of Advice: You will likely need to use a piece of paper that is larger than 8.5 x 11 if  you are doing this project with younger students or if you are requiring a lot of content to be put on each page !  A larger piece of paper to start with means each individual page of the book will be larger.  I have successfully used 8.5 x 11 paper with high school students.

The guidelines I give my students for creating their astronomy booklet are at the bottom of this page.  On the top of this page, I have included a blank version so you can fill it in.

What topic would you use for your student mini-books?

P.S. This would be a great end of year activity!
