Currently for June

End of year exhaustion is still in effect…4 more days and then SUMMER! I can make it! When I hear people jealous of teacher getting summers “off”, I let them know that teachers work 12 months, they just cram it into 10. 60 hour work weeks anyone? Maybe this is why my last “currently” was just a couple days ago…

Well said! I had a janitor yesterday remark to me, “I wish I could take off in the summer and still get paid for it.” I was seeing red. The general public does not seem to understand that we only get paid for the hours we work (and actually, even less than that, in most cases!). Money from my August-June checks gets taken out and reserved for the summer months, so we’re SURE not getting paid for not working! Sheesh!

*deep breath* Sorry for the mini-rant. I could go on, but I won’t. 🙂

I found your blog through Farley’s Currently, and I am SO excited to have a look around! It seems like we are very similar. I actually went to school to be an elementary teacher but taught my first two years as a high school English teacher. I loved the subject but disliked the teenage attitudes, so I went back to elementary school. I now teach K-4 Science Lab, and I LOVE it! I’m always looking for new and exciting labs for my students, so I have a feeling I will be visiting your blog a lot. {I know your lessons will probably be higher than my students can handle right now, but we teachers are pros at modifying. 😉 }

  We are definitely similar because I felt myself nodding my head with all that you said. A K-4 Science lab…tons of fun! I’d love to do that….definitely feel free to borrow and modify. I’m planning on posting more fifth grade materials this summer!

I also found you through the link up party. I, fortunately, am already on summer break, but good luck finishing your last few days. I am new to blogging and was hoping you could give me some insight into how you added your “follow me!” buttons. Also, I have seen several blogs that show what state you are a blogger in. How did you find this button?

  I’m a new blogger too so I know how you feel. Thankfully I had previous website experience that has really helped out. The state buttons are from here: http://fifthinthemiddle.blogspot.com/p/blogs-by-state_9707.html. I use wordpress so I just used the search terms “wordpress follow me widget”. Since you use blogspot you’ll want to search “how to add follow me buttons in blogspot”. I am all self taught – there are tons of online tutorials for bloggers.
