Six Years Later, I’m Blogging Again and I’m Teaching Middle School STEM

I haven’t written here since 2020. A lot has happened since then.

I was burnt out, my mom almost died (she’s better now), and I needed a shift.

I didn’t learn my lesson right away. I finally finished my doctorate and taught college for a couple of years. My college students were fantastic, but I discovered I didn’t like my overall job as much as I liked being in the classroom.

Yikes.

I moved to a new place and established new routines. I started reading again. A LOT. I got back into my offline creative habits. Painting, making, doing.

I started teaching middle school STEM and gifted classes and LOVE it. And not just initial new thing excitement, but still love it AND
going on year four.

Thank god.

Now I’m feeling the creative urge to write on this blog again.

I’m here to document my middle school teaching life. I’m here to share practical, thoughtful ideas for teachers who want their middle school students to think harder, create more, and care about what they’re doing.
